Tools, Technologies, and Processes at the
Intersection of Data Governance and Data Quality
Many Data Governance and Stewardship programs exist primarity to help improve the quality and integrity of an organization's data.
These types of programs are especially dependent on tools. They rely on software to help with validation, data profiling, data cleansing, and merge/purge activities such as deduplication, householding, matching, and enrichment. Software applications can help point out data anomolies, so that the Data Quality and Governance teams can decide how to deal with them.
These types of programs may also rely on software to help capture and manage Data Quality rules and policies, and they may need workflow to enable collaborative decision-making and approvals. They may need software to help locate sensitive or private data so the organization can focus on improving the quality of that information.
If your organization is trying to improve data quality, then you're probably looking for software that can perform traditional quality routines while also meeting the needs of data stewards and governors who are supporting this effort.
